Partnership will bring software programmer training first to Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn
ALBANY — CanCode Communities, an Albany workforce training nonprofit that trains non-traditional students in software programming, is partnering with The City University of New York system for the first time to offer classes in New York City.
CanCode Communities has opened registration for a Python for Data Analytics class that starts Jan. 24 at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn.
CanCode Communities began in Troy in 2016 as Albany CanCode to train out-of-work and non-traditional students in the Capital Region in software training and programming. The program was so successful that it immediately began to spread to other areas of the state and western Massachusetts.
To date, more than 600 students have participated in the classes. The partnership with CUNY marks the first time that CanCode Communities, started by software entrepreneur Annmarie Lanesey, has worked with a college in New York City.
