Delma Wood Represents Can Code Communities at Net Inclusion Conference, Elevating Latino Voices in Digital Equity

Feb 27, 2026 | announcements, press

Can Code Communities is proud to celebrate our incredible bilingual instructor, Delma Wood, who spoke last month at the national Net Inclusion Conference in Chicago — one of the leading gatherings focused on advancing digital equity and inclusion across the country.

Delma served as a featured panelist for the powerful session, “Latinos in Digital Equity: Building Trust, Breaking Barriers.” She joined respected leaders from across the nation, including Ricardo Reinoso (City of Cleveland), Yesica Miranda (Centro Comunitario Hispano Americano), and Eliseo Ceja (Methodist Health Ministries), to discuss how organizations can more effectively serve Hispanic and Latino communities.

Together, the panel explored critical strategies for advancing equitable access to technology and opportunity, including:

  • Expanding language access to ensure communities can fully participate

  • Building trusted community partnerships that foster authentic engagement

  • Designing culturally responsive programs that reflect lived experiences

  • Measuring impact thoughtfully to drive meaningful, sustainable change

At Can Code, these principles guide our work every day — particularly as we expand access to technology training and digital literacy programs for diverse communities.

Bringing Humanity to Digital Inclusion

In addition to serving as a panelist, Delma participated in the conference’s “Voices of Digital Inclusion” segment, coordinated by Kyla Williams Tate of the Cook County Office of the President. During this special session, Delma performed her original poem, “Mundo Ilógico.”

Through her words, she brought emotion, reflection, and lived experience into a space often focused on data and infrastructure. Her performance served as a powerful reminder that digital equity is not just about broadband, devices, or technical skills — it is about people. It is about dignity, access, trust, and opportunity.

Delma’s participation exemplifies the heart of Can Code’s mission: ensuring that individuals from all backgrounds have access to the skills, support, and pathways needed to thrive in a digital world.

We are incredibly proud to see her leadership recognized on a national stage and grateful for the voice she brings to this critical work.
